BEFORE DEATH.Named Amélie in life, Ètincelle grew up in France, born in 1899. Ever since she was a child, Amélie found passion and inspiration in art, dedicating her life to her craft. Witnessing the start of animation, even as a child, she knew her lifes greatest love when she saw it. As an adult, she became devoted to the point of obsession with becoming a famous animator. Refusing to stray from her path or receive outside help, Amélie's pride led to her downfall, for she died a starving artist.ARRIVAL IN HELL.~Sinners in life are condemned to the ring of Pride in death -- such is the order of the world. However, landing in the ring of the very sin that had killed her made her soul fall to Hell with more power and potential than normal for a mortal. This did not go unnoticed by Pride's strongest, obtaining her soul becoming somewhat of a challenge. Ètincelle died not too long after Alastor's overlord massacre, and the Radio Demon was dismayed to find he could not fell her, their fight leading to a tie. Fearing her overtaking him in the future, Alastor attempted to strike her a deal. Ètincelle, too clever to sell her soul, settled on a favor of his choosing in exchange for an allyship between the pair.PRESENT TIME.Alastor did not claim his favor for nearly a century -- until he demanded she come work at the Hazbin Hotel alongside Husk and Niffty, taking the position of a mere receptionist. Having been an established Overlord for what was now decades, Ètincelle was dismayed. Alastor was vague on purpose, and because of this, there is no real end date on her favor, effectively keeping her at the Hotel permanently. She initially despised the Princess and her cause, but the time she was forced to spend around the Morningstar family has her views beginning to shift -- even if she won't admit it, the longer she spends in the Hazbin Hotel, the more fond she grows of the Princess and the King, their hotel and Charlie's ideals. Although she has no desire to ascend to Heaven herself, and that will remain unchanged even over the passage of time, the idea doesn't seem quite as far fetched for other sinners.

..   BEHIND THE NAME.~Ètincelle is the name she chose for herself shortly after her arrival to Hell. Feeling no desire to keep any ties between her life as a mortal and a sinner, the newly fledged demon fell in love with her powers as soon as they manifested. Her favorite quickly became the ability to give the gift of life to any and all of her ink creations. Life as we know it depends on electricity, and so Ètincelle chose her name wisely, for it is the french word for spark -- and that is precisely what she gives her art...   CURRENT PERSONALITY.~Although it had been nobody's fault but her own, Ètincelle despised the fact that her life had ended before she could achieve her goal, the one thing that made that same life worth living. This hatred entwined itself with her soul, poisoned her more than her sins. It was not long after she died that Ètincelle grew cold -- closed off and lacking empathy in its entirety. Other sinners and residents of Hell became nothing more than stepping stones and sources of power. This attitude is what allowed her to rise the ranks of Hell so flawlessly, what allowed her to claim the title of Overlord. This cruelty, however, is wrapped in a bow similar to the ones she adorns, one made of polished class and formal manners. She is smooth speaking and classic in her mannerisms, the definition of ladylike. However, recently she has grown dismayed to find some of her iced edges beginning to melt -- it is entirely credited to the Morningstar family that she has grown just a little soft in recent times. She finds the Princess to be too soft, and a slight protectiveness emerges under the front of needing to be cruel because Charlie cannot. Perhaps Charlie was not so off -- perhaps even the coldest of souls can change...   DESIGN NOTES.
~ Ètincelle died at the initial rise of cartoon culture, and so she was specifically designed to resemble one. Her palette is very monotone, meaning to represent the limits of the art form at the time. Red is the only accent color besides her eyes I kept to maintain that idea. The flower she wears in her left ear is a spider lily, a flower synonymous with death, a plant that guides souls from one life to the next.

LUCIFER.
A lot of Ètincelle's arc was created with the idea of shipping her with Lucifer in mind, so her bond with him is inherently romantic, but interactions with a Lucifer do not always have to assume this role. If their relationship is platonic, assume Ètincelle's arc to be there but to a much less strong extent. Instead of gradually reforming, she plateaus earlier on. When romantic, Lucifer is the driving cause for her rehabilitation. His compassion and love for Charlie upon his initial visit to the Hotel awake a sense of longing she thought long dead and gone, and after that she finds herself delighted to spend idle time with him in the Hotel's lobby when he visits. His awkward characteristics become endearing to her, whether she allowed it or not. Ètincelle's protective nature over Charlie and witty, artistic way of thinking endear her to him in return, and the two form a genuine friendship, her ice cold personality melting a little more with each emotion he brings back to her. It's her who falls first, the small crush she harbored becoming something much more. Their relationship takes years of patience and healing on both ends to begin, but by the time it does, Ètincelle is a far better person in a far better place than she was when she met him. He gave her the nickname Eden, and she won't allow nearly anyone other than him to use it. It still catches her off guard how smitten with him she is, but to her, without a doubt, he is the greatest thing to happen to her.ALASTOR.
Ètincelle is meant to parallel both Alastor and Vox in separate ways -- with Vox, it is because of her rivalry and alliance with Alastor. Ètincelle shares what she considers to be a genuine friendship with him, but as fond of him as she is, she's also equally annoyed with him for forcing her to the Hotel. She is much, much happier being his ally rather than his enemy, however. By the terms of his deal, neither of them are allowed to harm the other. She offers him a powerful ally in herself when a battle comes his way, and vise versa. They share a very teasing and banterous dynamic -- their exchanges on occasion seeming downright malicious to others while simply playful to them. Hell is a better place with fights between them impossible -- while Alastor would likely be the victor, by no means would it be an easy one. A battle between the pair would be devastating.LILITH.
Lilith is nothing short of breathtaking, and she can certainly see why Lucifer fell for her. Truthfully, Lilith is Ètincelle's only true fear -- or at least in timelines where she is with Lucifer. Ètincelle is confident and sure of herself, but she cannot help but be terrified Lilith will return and take Lucifer with her. She owes everything to him, and she loathes the day where he's ripped away from her -- or worse, leaves her of his own volition, even if it may never come. She'd likely spiral and regress, and she knows that. She is ashamed of it, actually. She has never spoken a word of this to anyone and intends to keep it that way.lol

CANON RELATIONSHIPS

CHARLIE.
While Lucifer is the main driving force in Ètincelle's rehabilitation, Charlie played no small part. In fact, she was the reason for it's start. Her goals and optimism were initially deemed annoying and foolish to the cat, but with every month spent in the hotel, Ètincelle finds Charlie's hopeful attitude infectious. The Princess became less of a bother and more someone who's company she could enjoy. Ètincelle has come to truly adore Charlie, and is greatly protective of her, even in the present timeline. She can be seen as an aunt-like figure, of sorts.HUSK.
Ètincelle and Husk form a friendship on the basis of their mutual grievances with Alastor -- that and she enjoys having another cat around. It's a plus that his company, while an acquired taste, is genuinely enjoyable. With the Hotel void of new residents, Ètincelle doesn't have much work to do, so she can often be found at the bar with a glass of wine, the both of them complaining about the demon that had brought them there. She wants to find a way to get ownership of Husk's soul from Alastor, if only to allow him to do what he wants.ANGEL DUST.
Although their personalities are largely different, Ètincelle finds the spider demon amusing. She already disliked the Vee's before meeting him, but her hatred of Val grows afterwards. Sure, as an Overlord she owns plenty of souls, but Valentino's business conduct simply crosses a line.VAGGIE.
Ètincelle, once in the point in her arc where she has come to love Charlie, is pleased she has someone like Vaggie to defend her. She is curious about angel-kind but refrains from digging out of respect for the Princess. She maintains a silent respect for Vaggie, as well. She is good enough for Charlie in Ètincelle's eyes, and that's all that matters.NIFFTY.
Niffty is.. strange, to say the least, but entertaining. Truthfully, Ètincelle doesn't spare her too much thought -- she finds it absolutely hilarious how Niffty was the one to kill Adam, though, so points for that.THE VEE'S.
Ètincelle cannot stand any of the Vees, Vox and Val being the biggest offenders. She finds them disgusting and their power pitiful -- Vox is the only one who's displayed any form of true strength in his battle with Alastor, not something as frail as power from their careers. Velvette is annoying and while their personalities clash heavily, the two both surrounded by an air of superiority, at least she's not completely insufferable. Vox sought to use her for her power not too long after he died and ultimately failed, making the animosity the strongest between those two.OTHERS TBD.

While she is in part relationship centric with Lucifer, and so ships with him will likely be sought first, I am not against and actually look forward to building other potential dynamics.
